WisdomTree Withdraws S-1 Registration Application for Ethereum Trust
WisdomTree has applied to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to withdraw its S-1 registration application for the Ethereum Trust. After three years, the withdrawal of the document marks a change in the company's strategy.
Since the first registration statement was submitted on May 27, 2021, WisdomTree has been hoping to list its Ethereum ETF on BZX of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. However, the statement that "no securities have been or will be issued or sold pursuant to the registration statement" shows the impact of the current market environment on this plan.
Although WisdomTree confirmed that it could not obtain a refund for the fees paid, it requested that the amount be credited "for future use", indicating its expectations and layout for future opportunities. At the same time, VanEck also announced the closure of its futures-based Ethereum ETF in response to market capital flows.
