Base's daily active addresses exceed 1 million
Base, as Coinbase's second-layer network, has achieved a new record of 1 million daily active addresses driven by the rapid growth of the "Basenames" service.
On August 24, 2022, Base's daily active addresses reached a record 1.05 million, an increase of 60% compared to the beginning of August. At the same time, Base's daily active addresses have exceeded the sum of several other major second-layer protocols, far ahead. Among them, Arbitrum ranked second with 394,000 daily active addresses, Linea with 198,000, and Mantle with 69,000.
"Basenames" service drives rapid user growth
The key to this growth is the "Basenames" service launched by Base on August 21. The service relies on the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) platform and allows users to purchase usernames bound to their Base wallet addresses, thereby enabling more convenient communication between users within the network.
Data shows that within the first week of the service's launch, more than 200,000 Base.eth usernames were minted. In contrast, it took ENS nearly two years from launch to reach 200,000 registered addresses.
Base network transaction volume climbs
In addition to the promotion of the "Basenames" service, the transaction activity of the Base network itself is also increasing. According to DefiLlama data, Base's total transaction volume has achieved rapid growth in the past five months, and now accounts for 9.25% of the total transaction volume of Ethereum decentralized exchanges, a significant increase from 2.81% in early March.
